- Letter from Harriet Dame to Anna Berry in Concord, NH, dated June 29, 1862. This letter is written in pencil and has faded in several spots. In the letter, Dame, writing from the road, states that they left Fair Oakes this morning at daylight and that she refused to go in the hospital wagon. She discusses their march, the clothing and items she has taken with her, and how long they have been stopping at each point. Dame notes how many sick are with them and that they had to leave their medicine at the camp. She notes they are three and a half miles away from their camp and that there is fighting. Dame ends the letter on July 4th, noting Berry cannot dream of the horrors she has seen and that the regiment is away preparing to advance.
