Letter from Harriet Dame at Camp Beaufort to Anna Berry in Concord, NH, dated January 12, 1862. In the letter, Dame writes that they had not received mail since Monday night. She discusses a letter to their steward saying his little boy had scarlet fever and was very sick and how they had to wait a week for the mail to arrive with news he is now better. Dame goes on to describe the attacks on their camp by the rebels, the work she has been doing, the weather, and the amount of mud in Maryland. She ends the letter by wondering if she should accept Dr. Hubbard's offer for her to work at the U.S. General Hospital or if she should stay with her friends in the regiment.
