This small collection of the papers of Harold Webster Cate (1884-1958) consists primarily of documentation of his patriotic musical compositions written in the 1940s and early 1950s. There are many receipts for mailing material to the U.S. Copyright Office between 1944 and 1945, but the collection contains only one copy of a piece with both words and music, as well as a few poems. Other details of his working and personal life are not present. The photographs are of himself, his mother, and a few friends, notably an undated one of composer Amy Cheney Beach. Another item of note is a thank-you letter from Sherman Adams from the White House dated April 9, 1954.
