Scope and Content:
Letter from Sarah Hammond Grimes Smith to Almira Smith. Letter written from DeKalb, IL, May 19, 1864. Sarah writes she was happy to hear from Almira and to hear the family (except Thomas) are in good health. Sarah remembers their shared childhood in Keene. The dairying and gardening are going well in DeKalb, and Sarah and the Dr. have been doing redecorating. Sarah mourns that more men are being called to fight in the war and wonders when it will stop, though she has been glad to hear of McClellan's success. The Dr. has been extremely busy.
