- Scope and Content:
- Letter from Alvin Russell Davis to Bertha E. Stearns, dated April 8, 1918. The letter is addressed from 'somewhere in France'. Alvin tells Bertha he has been in the trenches twice and in "no mans land" and has returned safe. He notes he has been hit by shrapnel and does not like the big shells being close to him. He thanks her for the wristers and inquires about her teaching and health. Alvin goes on to say his company is doing well, but that he wishes the war were over. He ends the letter by stating he is looking forward to receiving maple sugar and that letters to France are not censored, so she should write as much as she wishes.
