- Letter from Alvin Russell Davis to Addie Erwin, dated April 7, 1918. The letter is addressed from 'somewhere in France'. Alvin apologizes for not writing sooner. He has been on the front and in no man's land twice and not been able to send letters. He writes about the shells whistling overhead. When he returns to the United States, Alvin says he will not be leaving again. Should there be another war, he will wait to be drafted, though he notes they treat the drafted boys terribly in France.
