Scope and Content:
Letter is from Hermon to Blanche Nutting. He starts off his letter by commenting on the stationary her last letter to him was on. He then talks about his lack of sleep and how Wolfie has been keeping track because he was up reading "Freud's Psychoanalysis of Human Nature for excitement." He mentions they were caught in an electric storm and that he went down to the forge shop and describes what that was like. He then goes on that it was too bad that he wasn't around when she wanted ice cream and he has a dessert called a "whit house" the day before. He then describes the boat ride they are experience, the beautiful views and how it makes writing difficult. The next portion of the letter are about his travel plans for the next few days in New York and Ramsey, NJ and how next week him and Wolfie plan on traveling to New Haven to see Yale University. He then goes on about travling around the state of New Hampshire to see different people and how in 7 1/2 hours he traveled 66 miles. He then asks if she will come visit and he can take her to the beach and out to dinner and the theatre. He then mentions that Janet wrote to him about how Blanche is thinking of going to Keene and he wonders why she would go there. He then mentions some friends and where they are going to school. He concludes by saying he is going to take a nap because he is feeling lazy and doesn't expect to get a lot of sleep over the next few days. Someone added the postmarked date to the letter, which is 1918 August 12.
