- Letter from Humphrey Chadbourn in Berwick, ME, to William Whipple in Portsmouth, NH, dated August 5, 1782. In the letter, Chadbourn notes he is sorry he is unable to supply Whipple with the shingles he requested because he does not have time to go to the upper towns to get them as he is occupied with his hay business. He also states good quality shingles are hard to acquire this time of year.
