- The Owen Johnson Papers, 1927-1941, 1963, consists of trademark documentation, ads and photographs regarding the BUILDIT product line that was owned by the Johnson Lumber Company from 1927-1941. The line comprised of the materials to build four different miniature houses, with the intention of teaching young boys the techniques to build full size houses. Johnson Lumber Company sold the trademark to the Delavan Engineering Company of Des Moines Iowa in 1941. The other documents in the collection pertain to an awards dinner held by the New England Lumberman's Association in honor of Owen Johnson in 1963 where he was gifted a plaque carved by Peter Meindl. The collection contains no personal information about Owen Johnson nor administrative information about the Johnson Lumber Company. The collection is comprised mainly of photographs and ads, some of these are reproductions and the originals kept elsewhere in the Society's collection, like the plaque. There is also a partial reproduction of the May 1, 1929 publication of "Big Trees," a newsletter published by the West Coast Lumberman's Association, which contains an ad on the BUILDIT line.
