Letter from Charles L. Brigham to his mother, dated October 18, 1863. In the letter, Charles tells his mother he has found some medicine that will "cure me of the shakes." He writes that his colonel declared that every man who wanted a furlough could have one come winter. Charles believes a month back home would do him good. Charles finishes his letter on October 20, writing there was a report in the camp that his regiment would be going to Tennessee to join General Burnside. However, this turned out to be false.
