Letter from Robert O. Blood to the surgeon of the 103rd Infantry dated May 12, 1918. In the letter, Blood reports on the enemy attack of May 10, 1918, noting the attack began with an "extreme concentration" gas attack, "followed by Gas Shells and High Explosives Bombardment lasting nearly 6 hours." He goes on to note the number of casualties and stated if there had been more time to get the gas masks on, the casualties would have been fewer. Blood ends the letter by stating Pvts. R. Stowell, A. Stowell, and Morse were in the center of the attack and deserve special credit for their devoted work.
