Letter from Edward E. Sturtevant in Washington, DC, to George W. Sturtevant and his family in Keene, NH, dated December 6, 1850. In the letter, Edward updates his family on his current living situation, noting it was very hard to leave his family, but that this is best for him. He discusses his employment, noting he works 10 hours a day during the week and 8 hours on Saturdays. Edward also notes Congress is in session, stating they meet at noon and adjourn by one and that he has seen many of them intoxicated. Attached to the letter is page five and six, which appear to be a continuation of a different letter. In this portion, he states he regrets to leave his quarters, but hopes to find things satisfactory in Richmond, VA. He goes on to note that he misses the family and hopes to visit soon.
