Scope and Content:
A collection of five postcards from Alvin Russell Davis to Eva May Norcross. The first is a white postcard with colored embroidered flowers and the embroidered message 'FLOWERS FROM FRANCE'. It has no writing on the back. The second is a landscape of Nogent-en-Bassigny' and is also unnoted. The third is a landscape titled 'Environ de Langres' and includes a message in Alvin's handwriting saying he is leaving 'this place' (Bassigny) and will be home soon. The fourth is a postcard of Berlin. It is written in German in a hand other than Alvin's. It is addressed from Charlottenburg and dated January 1, 1917. The fifth is a postcard from Gruss aus Biebrich a Rhein and appears to be written in the same hand as the fourth postcard. It is dated February 6, 1918. Though the accompanying envelope is addressed to Eva May Norcross, it is possible these are the postcards referenced in Alvin's February 2, 1919 letter to Addie Erwin (2023.057.14.03).
