Scope and Content:
Letter from Alvin Russell Davis to Bertha E. Stearns, dated June 4, 1918. The letter is addressed from 'somewhere in France'. Alvin writes they are moving through France and he has been able to find an American YMCA, which he is pleased about as the YMCA always does its best to entertain the troops. The village he is in is near the front lines and he can hear the machine guns. As the Germans retreat they are destroying as much property as they can, and Alvin says he has not seen anything pretty in France. He gives his best wishes to Bertha.
