The wheel, imported from England by the Pope Manufacturing Company of Boston, had a 52 inch wheel in front and a 12 inch wheel in the rear. Shortly after, the late Charles H. Sanders of Penacook purchased a high wheel 60 inches in height. The size of the wheel was determined by the length of the owners legs. John F. Kent, principal of the high school, also owned a high wheel and cut quite a figure on a windy day with his long coat trails fluttering in the breeze."
