It was enlarged five years later 1859 and now has an area of about half an acre. It is surrounded by a substantial iron fence and is made attractive by trees, well kept walks, lawns and graceful monuments. This cemetery is in the custody of the commission which has charge of the Old North and Blossom Hill cemeteries. It is the property of an association and is largely supported by the income of a fund of three thousand dollars donated to the city, in trust, by Mrs. Abby P. Minot, 'for preservation, care and embellishment of the burial lots known as the Minot Enclosure under the direction of the duly appointed officials or members of the Mino[t] Cemetery association.' Abbie P. Minot was the widow of Josiah and her home was at 84 Warren street at the northwest corner of Rumford street."
