Undated photographic print of Major Daniel Livermore's headstone at Old North Cemetery in Concord, NH. The caption states, "Major Daniel Livermore 1798 The grave of Major Daniel Livermore, who began his military career at Bunker Hill and followered the fortunes of the Revolutionary War to its close. He was in the battles of Trenton and of Princeton, and at Valley Forge in the doleful winter of 1777 and 1778. In 1779, he was in General Sullivan's expeditions against the Indians in northern Pennsylvania and western New York. In his orderly book may be found a graphic record of the incidents of that destructive raid. He subsequently remained in the Northern army until it was disbanded, in 1783. Thereafter returning to Concord, he there discharged important civil duties and enjoyed the honors of a valued citizen until his decease, at the early age of forty-nine years. In 1785 he built his house on North Main street next lot north of the Old Historical building ; the south end of the house was nine inches over the line of the street while the north end was exactly on the line. The reason assigned for this position was that ; when Major Livermore was building his house he was courting one of Judge Walker's daughters, at the North end, and he wanted it skewed a little, so that he could look up that way. After the establishment of the upper Concord Bank, in 1806 the house was bought by the bank proprietors of Maj. Livermore, and occupied by Samuel Sparhawk, Esq. cashier of the bank. In 1829 Rev. Mr. Bouton bought the house and land. This is a marble monument; with ornamental cut of an urn, overhung with cypress."
