Photographic print of the Kinsman - Ladd House at 45 Pleasant Street, now at 36 Stone Street, in Concord, NH, dated 1888. A photocopy of the caption states, "This house stood near the east corner of Mill road and the 'Country Road', South St. Captain Aaron Kinsman, Bunker Hill hero carried on a potash works, on the west corner, Nathan Kinsman his brother, a Revolutionary soldier, purchased in 1769 an acre of land and built this house for his wife Mercy and her two little children. Following the war, this house was purchased by Dudley Ladd, a hater [hatter] from Haverhill, Massachusetts, who married Bethiah, daughter of Col. Gordon Hutchins. She was one of the original Quakers in Concord. The Ladd livered here for many years, removing to Franklin in old age, to live with a son Dudley Jr. In the directory of 1853 Mrs. Abigail Ladd lived in this house, 1860 occupied by Andrew Ladd. George W. Parker lived in this house when a young man, he said this old house was a curiosity but comfortable. Painted yellow, with weather-barn and shed, it had a large fireplace and chimney, a short front roof and a long slating roof behind, small panes of glass and had a wooden fence enclosure. This photograph made in 1888 the year of Concord's worst snow storm. It was then owned by Mrs E. J. Little, widow of Dr. John W. Little, she lived in the house at the left bought by George L. Theobald in 1893. The house in the rear was owned by Mrs. Manning, and the lower part rented to Rev. J K Ewer. This old house is now located at 36 Stone street."
