- Letter from Warren G. Rowell of the 10th New Hampshire Volunteers at Chaffin's Bluff, VA, to his friend, Elisa A. Baker. Dated February 1865, Rowell writes that his health is good and that things have been quiet at the James River lately. He discusses General Grant's battle and writes that he feels the Confederate States of America will have to give in soon and "come to Abrahams terms." He then responds to her letter noting her description of Meridan and that he does not know Mr. Catlin of the Christian Commission. Rowell ends the letter by stating her letters will never tire him out.
