- Letter from Elisha M. Kempton in Morris Island, SC, to his brother dated August 11, 1863. Kempton discusses life in a military camp as well as gives an update on his injury. He notes that he is unable to discuss many specifics about his regiment's upcoming plans but feels that more battles will be imminent. Attached is another letter from August 15, 1863. In that letter, he gives further updates and discusses how he feels newspapers aren't mentioning his regiment enough.
