- Letter from Robert Bliss, a waiter at the Eagle Mountain House in Jackson, NH, to his mother, Eleanor Bliss, in Providence, RI, dated September 7, 1938. Written on Eagle Mountain House stationary, Robert writes about his time at the hotel, noting he recently went to North Conway with a group to see the historical picture "Marie Antoinette" and that the number of guests at the hotel have declined in the past few days, but he believes they will fill up again in the upcoming weeks. He goes on to state the tips have not been good, that he is hoping to make $10 a week, and ends the letter by telling stories of guests, including a hard-of-hearing man with an ear trumpet.
