Account book of Milton Bingham, a farmer in Lempster, NH, with entries dating from 1835 to 1859 and entries in another, unidentified hand dating from 1862 to 1875, after Bingham's death. The volume contains both a journal and daybook, with various accounts being tracked throughout. An alphabetical name index appears at the front, as well as a note recording his mother's birth and death dates. Additional genealogical information was added in pencil in 1965. The account book includes entries related to employees, sales of produce (corn, oats, potatoes, beef, etc.), surveying, pasturing other people's animals, bleeding a colt, shoeing a mare, cash paid, and more. It includes accounts with such individuals as Abijah White, Daniel Wheeler, Reverend S. S. Arnold, and the Congregational Society. Diary entries appear particularly towards the second half of the volume, and include such notes as the weather, going sleighing, petitioning "for the abolition of the punishment of death," the death of Bingham's daughter, and the health of his wife. Other pages contain writings such as, "An incident showing the influence of Mr. Webster's name, wherever seen," dated September 7, 1853 and legal advice from Ralph Metcalf dated March 13, 1851.
