- Letter from Horace F. Folsom at Western Pennsylvania Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA, to Carlos George at the General Hospital at Camp Nelson, KY, dated October 1, 1863. The letter has been forwarded to West Canaan, NH. In the letter, Folsom writes about his health, noting he was too unwell to continue with his regiment and was sent to hospital, where he has been for six months. He describes the hospital and grounds, which was an asylum for the insane, and notes he has improved enough to work guard duty for the hospital. He inquires about George's health and notes if he is well enough, he should do some light duty as well. He goes on to discuss God and salvation and requests George reply soon. Carlos George died at Camp Nelson on September 24, 1863.
