- Undated postcard of a train filled with passengers on Jacob's Ladder on the Mount Washington Cog Railway. A caption on the back states, "JACOB'S LADDER. MT. WASHINGTON RAILWAY. Thirty feet above the rocks at a nineteen hundred and eighty feet incline to the mile, the steepest grade in the three-mile ascent to the summit, and well above the tree line, the train crosses Jacob's Ladder. At this point one is thrillingly impressed with the great Gulf's awful depth, the sublime panorama spread below and the marked transition from temperate to sub-artic zones shown by changing flora and chilling atmosphere."
