The Merrill and Spalding Family Papers, 1877-1932, consist of correspondence, one small notebook with early family genealogical information, and a small selection of miscellaneous printed materials. The letters range in date from 1877 to 1932, with the vast majority of the letters written by Sarah to her husband Charlie during his travels in the New York region in 1887 and 1888. These letters are of a personal nature, discussing their first child in her infancy, gossip from their hometown of Hudson, NH, any illnesses, as well as general updates on his family members and their farm. The remaining letters are written between siblings or by Sarah to her mother, Lucy. The printed materials consist of two documents from Helen's time at Nashua High School, two blank bank documents, one pamphlet from the American Missionary Association, and three items from Hudson's Old Home Week celebrations.
