Register for the William Nowell's Log Cabin kept from 1903 to 1907. Entries record the arrivals and departures of visitors to the Cabin and the hiking routes they to and from the Cabin. The log cabin was located on Lowe's Path on the site of an old Appalachian Mountain Club on Mount Adams. Lowe's Path was completed by Nowell and Charles E. Lowell between 1875 and 1876, and the cabin was built by Nowell in the late 1880s. Some of the entries are written by William Gray Nowell, some by other individuals. Nowell's entries record weather conditions, wildlife, excursions from the Cabin, trail work he did, and visitors to the Cabin. Also included are meteorological tables, a history of the Log Cabin, a description of the opening of Lowe's Path, and a transcription of a letter addressed to Nowell from Frances F. Cleveland, who visited that Cabin in August 1906.
