- Scope and Content:
- The F. Jerome Hoyt Papers, 1902-1968, contain diaries, account books, and a photocopy of a handwritten autobiography. The diaries are pocket sized and date from 1902-1910, 1916-1917, and 1933. The diaries record an account of a long rail trip to the west on the "Century of Progress Tour." For the most part, the diaries mainly concern going to church, going to grange meetings, singing in the choir, attending social events, and visiting the YMCA. The collection also includes pocket-sized records of income and expenses dated 1947 to 1964. The records show pensions, social security payments, and daily expenses. The last item in the collection is a 25-page photocopy of a handwritten autobiography written when Hoyt was 91. It details his early family life and local customs, the death of his brother in 1903, a Walter Kittredge show, stories, and poems.
