Scope and Content:
Diary of Albert D. Healey Sr. when he was a teenager, which covers the dates June 12, 1905 to October 16, 1905. The diary begins in Dorchester, MA, and details Healey's time in school and what he does in his spare time. On June 27, 1905, he travels with El to Colebrook, NH, where he details his time working at a hotel, as head waiter and sometimes bellboy, and his activities outside of work. This includes swimming, smoking, visiting the surrounding area (including a nickel mine), and spending time with El. On September 30, 1905, Healey travels through the White Mountains back to his house in Dorchester, noting the foliage was best on Monadnock. Once back in Dorchester, he writes of his experience in school and what he does in his spare time, which includes smoking, visiting friends, and playing golf. A strip of photographs of an unidentified girl is in the front of the diary, and accounts are on both the inside front and inside back covers. Each entry includes a brief note on the weather.
