Scope and Content:
Founded in 1903, Concord, N.H. Began as a group of friends and developed to a service organization for Concord for the next sixty years. Their charitable work began with a Silver Tea in 1908 to benefit the District Nurses Association and the Charity Organization. They worked with school children to give Thanksgiving baskets to the needy and conducted rummage sales to raise money. As the members had long held an interest in the arts, they sponsored art exhibitions featuring the work of member Ethel Foster, and a concert by Madam Gautier. Throughout the years, their work has benefitted the Memorial Hospital, the Franklins Orphans Home, and the Red Cross. Collection includes minutes of annual meetings, correspondence (mostly thank-you letters), copies of newspaper clippings relating to members and their activities, photographs, and ephemera. Two folders contain correspondence and a report regarding the organization's fiftieth anniversary. The report contains a fairly detailed history of the Club.
