- Letter from J. B. Moore in Washington, DC, to John Wingate Weeks in Lancaster, NH, dated April 22, 1844. In the letter, Moore notes he should have written sooner, since he has not seen Weeks for seven or eight years, but found he did not wish to burden his friends with his somber mood. He writes he is now 47 years old and "with gray hairs sprinkled upon my head, beginning life anew." Moore then goes on to discuss how his family is, including his children, who range from ten to twenty-one; his mother, who is poor in health and alternates living with his brother and sister; and his siblings.
