- Letter from Charles Donworth in Palm Springs, CA, to Frank R. Kenison, Chief Justice of the New Hampshire Supreme Court in Concord, NH, dated January 19, 1968. In the letter, Donworth notes that due to Amendment 25 of their consitution, he had to retire as a judge on the Washington State Supreme Court on December 31. He discusses the dinner hosted on his behalf by the Washington State Bar Association and the Seattle Bar Association, as well as the party held by his colleagues. He states, "I have learned that the only way a judge can become popular is to announce his impending retirement." Donworth goes on to discuss the last case he worked on, State v. Aiken, and notes Kenison is one of the outstanding jurists in the country. He ends the letter by thanking Kenison for the Christmas card. Attached is a short newspaper article announcing his retirement.
