- Scope and Content:
- Perkins was from Hampton, N.H. but sailed to California in Nov. 1849 to search for gold. Records expenses for food, supplies, doctor, etc. records amounts of gold taken out, building house. May 1851 sells claim and returns to N.H. Then in Aug. 1857 he leaves again, works at Blue Gulch, Curtis Creek, sluicing for Charles Porter & Co. then engineering mill for Merced Mining Co. He apparently returned to Hampton. See background material in register file.
