- Letter from F. T. Macrae, Jr. of the National Motors Mfg. Co. in Irvington, NJ, to the Timken-Detroit Axle Co. in Detroit, MI, dated January 23, 1932. In the letter, Macrae vehemently opposes the plan of the Timken-Detroit Axle Co. to sell parts directly to service dealers in order to stave off the abundance of "pirate" parts. Macrae notes this will cause competition between the service dealer and the manufacturing customers, which would lead to serious price cutting. He notes it would also be unfair to the manufacturer who is making the replacement parts as they are entitled to this business.
