- Letter from Alice Stone in Newcastle, ME, to her husband Robert "Bob" Stone dated August 23 and 24, 1919. In this twelve-page letter, Alice details a sailing trip she took with Annite and Myrtle on Earl Haley's boat. She describes the trip and the landscape, noting they met with Alice and Edgar, who were headed out to photograph Indians in a canoe. She describes their house, which has cold water from an artesian well. Alice goes on to update Bob on their children, noting Richard's eye is better, but still looks sore. She provides updates on their neighbors and friends, including a letter from Emily regarding someone studying to be a doctor and that their neighbor is the only "real" farmer left in the area. On Sunday, Alice writes of the thunderstorms and that they thoroughly cleaned the house. She notes once the weather cleared, she dug for clams for supper while the children had a mud bath. Alice ends the letter with a discussion on books to purchase and send for Richard to read.
