- Letter from Norman Gilbert in Hersfeld, Germany, to his wife in Lisbon, NH, dated October 19, 1945. In the letter, Gilbert states he already saw the movie they were showing, so he did not stay. He goes on to say his wife looked motherly holding the Holmes child and goes on to list his daily activities. Gilbert states he doesn't know how Christmas will be and that a man he knows is getting shipped a Christmas tree from his mother.
