Diary of Viola Beulah (Beulah (Viola?) Pierce of Peterborough, N.H. Pierce was a schoolteacher in East Peterborough and a boarder there as well, although her own home seems to have been within walking distance in Peterborough. Diary chronicles daily routine of a young country schoolteacher at the turn of the century. Many references to "Chum", a male friend she spent a great deal of time with. He could possibly be Arthur D. Wilder (1889-1918), whom she married on July 16, 1909, just seven months after this diary ends. Namecard inside front of diary states that her name is Viola Beulah Pierce, but according to the Peterborough town history, her name is Beulah Viola Pierce.
