The Isaac Blanchard Account Books consist of two journals that document Isaac Blanchard's furniture and cabinet making business in Wilton, NH, from 1808 to 1850. Blanchard worked in Wilton through 1828, then moved to Fitchburg, MA, where he worked until approximately 1830. He then returned to Wilton and continued his business. The first volume records accounts for 170 customers from 1808 through 1818. The second volume records accounts for 163 customers from 1818 through 1850. The volumes include entries for purchases of desks, bookcases, bamboo chairs, and card tables. Blanchard also made and repaired a range of objects including churns, bread troughs, cheese safes, canteens, whiffle-trees for wagons, farming equipment, and even built pews and windows for the Wilton meeting house. In some cases, Blanchard goes into detail documenting the painting, decorating, and lettering of objects for customers, referencing the pigments and colors he used.
