Scrapbook of Raymond, sometimes spelled Raymon, and Marion (Howland) Reed documenting their hobby of horse racing in New Hampshire, as well as in Maine, Vermont, and Pennsylvania, from 1938 to 1949. The scrapbook consists primarily of photographs and newspaper clippings, documenting the races and horses and includes race results, horse sales, total amount of bets made, images of the races (fairs, ice racing, etc.), portraits of horses, and horse farms. In addition to images of Raymond and Marion, a few other people are identified. Also included are United States Trotting Association Eligibility Certificates for Raymond Reed, E. G. Ralston, and Orin C. Frank dating from 1940 to 1946 and a "Roster of Harness Horses In Training at the Pinehurst Race Track" pamphlet dated 1949. At the end of the scrapbook are a few miscellaneous materials from World War II. This includes a letter from 1st Lieutenant Howard Kelley, stationed in Honolulu, HI, to Raymond and Marion in Wilmot Flat, NH, and postmarked March 12, 1942, as well as two newspaper clippings. One is an article on Rachel Burbank who began working at the Rochester, NH, "Observer" when a young man left to enlist in the army. The other is a notice of promotion for Howard Kelley to Captain dated July 21, 1942, which notes his work after the attack on Pearl Harbor.
