Photographic print of the Prescott Organ Works factory on South Main Street in Concord, NH, dated 1895. The caption states, "Prescott Organ Works East side South Main Street Near Railroad Tracks 1895 On February 9, 1896 at 12:38 a. m. this entire plant, including one hundred finished pianos and nearly four hundred more in the process of construction, was destroyed by fire, involving a loss of over $50,000, which was but partially covered by insurance. Seven minutes later the second alarm was pulled 3,800 feet hose wet. Recall at 4:20 a.m. $22.000 loss. By the immediate purchase of the vacant factory of the Haley Manufacturing Company at 181 North Main street, and refitting it with new and improved machinery, the company found itself better equipped than ever before to carry on its yearly incresing [increasing] business and it is most peculiar business, too, for its product must withstand the changes of temperature and humidity common to our New England climate."
