- Photographic print of the house at 25 North State Street in Concord, NH, dated 1890. A horse-drawn carriage is outside of the house. The caption states, "25 North State Street 1890 Dr. Moses W. Russell, office and residence. Corner North State and School Streets. Dr. Russell was born in Sutton, New Hampshire in 1836. Came to Concord in 1867. and was living in this house in 1878. He died April 16, 1896 at the age of sixty years. On January 1, 1867 Dr. Russell was one of nineteen Concord physicians to adopt a feetable of rate charges. Dr. Russell, about ready to make his house calls with the help of his trusted dobbin. Notice that the doctor sports a high silk hat which was concerted the heigth [height] of best dressed men of that period. After the doctor's death the house was purchased from his estate by Mary Baker G. Eddy as a gift to her believers in Concord and was made over into a chapel, known as "Christian Science Hall" Except the addition of tower and porch, and the alteration of windows, the exterior of building was little changed. The upper story was occupied by a hall, which had a seating capacity of over two hundred, and the lower floor by a reading-room and reception-room. There were two large arched windows at each end of the hall. The first service held in this clapel [chapel] was in December, 1897. (I have cabinet of twelve drawers with small closet on top, that was in the doctor's private office which was in the north west corner of the house, the chapel was razed by my father to make room for the new Science Church)."
