Photographic print of the Cloverdale Creamery store at 75 North Main Street in Concord, NH, dated 1915. The caption states, "Cloversale [Cloverdale] Company Store 75 North Main Street 1915 This Concord branch of the Cloverdal[e] stores was one of the most attractive of their sixty-five. There were twelve other branches in New Hampshire, four located at Manchester, Penacook, Tilton, Laconia, Rochester, Somersworth, Claremont and Keene. Clean stores, courteous treatment, low prices and high-grade goods have earned for this company great success and an enviable reputation. The Company was organized in Boston in 1900. All the business is conducted on a strictly cash basis, both buying and selling. There was no delivery of goods and no sales on credit. The savings meant that the prices named was for the value of the goods only, as no customer was called upon to pay any share of a fix charge for an expensive delivery system or for the losses due to bad bills. This illustration of the cracker, cheese and butter departments, was used by Wallace F. Purrington, state food and drug inspector, in his pure food lectures throughout the state. as a model section of a pure food store, everything being displayed under glass covers. The specialties carried by this company were butter, cheese, eggs, lard, beans, coffee, tea, cocoa, crackers and canned goods. For the past ten years this branch was managed by Jerome A. Kelly. I remember this store as the one to make peanut butter right from whole peanuts in a machine similar to a coffee grinder, fresh for each customer."
