- Image of an illustration by Richard W. Rummell of the New Hampshire State Library's Main Hall in Concord, NH, dated 1895. The caption states, "New Hampshire State Library Main Hall 1895 The vestibule and main hall has a rich wainscot five feet six inches high of Sienna marble with base and cap mouldings [moldings], door and window trimmings of Verona red marble, extending up the main stair case to the second story. Midway between the doors to the library is a massive mantel of Grecian design, and like the hall surrounding it is of Sienna marble, with Verona red trimmings, the motive of which is solid paneled pilasters relived with decorated mouldings [moldings] up to the supporting the shelf, above which spring coupled fluted pilasters with rich capitals carrying the main entablature. The space over the shelf between pilasters to the cornice, is filled with a bronze panel bearing the names of officials who have been instrumental in the building's erection, surrounded by symbolic carvings in bas-relief [bas-relief]. The floors of the main hall and vestibule are mosic [mosaic], of colored marble, with rich borders and centre [center] pieces. At the rear end of the main hall at the right, is the main staircase, nine feet wide, constructed of iron and marble, leading to the second story."
