The stone building was the south part on North State street. In this wing were the living apartments for the use of the deputy warden and his family. The prison was built in 1812 and used for sixty-six years. This building was originally of two stories, the third floor with the mansard roof was added after the state did away with this prison in 1878. In 1958 this is the site of John O Morton's residence at 117 North State street at the corner of Beacon street. The brick building in 1897 was used by John H. Toof for his laundry work shop.
