On this Wednesday morning workmen started the demolition of the last remaining wooden awning in the city, on Warren street in what was once known as the Dustin block. The awning, believed to be at least 50 years old, was erected to protect pedestrians from snow falling off the second floor setback on the building. In recent years the awning had been a perch for Santa Claus decoration during the Christmas seasons, by the George Elliott, jewler. The auning was sorely in need of repairs so the decision was made to take the structure down."
