- Photographic print of the Nardini Co., a restaurant and bakery at 6 North Main Street in Concord, NH, dated 1915. The caption states, "6 North Main Street. 1915 The Nardini Co., Restaurant and Bakery No men engaged in their line of business in New Hampshire were better known than G. Nardini & Son, restauranteurs, carterers and bakers. In the Capital City, 'Nardini's was the general landmark used in directing strangers about Main Street and in answer to an inquiry as to the location of a certain office or store, the stranger was informed that it is either above, below or across the street from Nardini's, and as the case may be. It was situated but a few doors above Pleasant Street junction on the east side of North Main Street and patronized by everyone, rich and poor alike, it was no wonder that the restaurent had gained such wide popularity. The reputation of the place had spread far beyound the city limits and 'Nardini's' was known all over the state. Giuseppe Nardini was born in Barga, Province of Lucca, Tuscany, Italy, in 1862, and at the age of fifteen years, when but a mere boy, left his home to earn his own living. He journeyed to England and remained there until he was twenty-one years of age, when he came to America and traveled through nineteen states of the Union. He engaged in business in New York and Boston, finally coming to Concord where where he remained to his death. When he first came to Concord Mr. Nardini took up the fruit business, as proprietor of the Boston Fruit Company, but he later sold out to others owners and started the restaurant business in which he was so successful. In 1893 he established his first restaurant on Pleasant Street junction and in 1905 moved to the location at 6 North Main Street. Mr. Nardini's son, Frank, is a partner in the business and actively engaged in its management. The younger Nardini was born in Charlestown, Mass., in 1888, and received his college preparatory education at Brewster Academy. He afterwards entered Dartmouth and later transferred to Colby, making great reputation for himself at all these institutions as a track athlete of wonderful abilility. Frank was one of the best college sprinters in New England and, after leaving college, developed considerable ability as a coach of track athletics. The Nardinis, father and son, achieved an enviable reputation as restaurateurs and their place of business was a model of cleanliness. With a well-equipped lunch counter on the."
