Undated photographic print of the entrance hall to Alonzo Downing's house at 12 South Street in Concord, NH. The caption states, "Alonzo Downing House 12 South Street Entrance Hall This hall had a beautiful graceful stair-way. Note the fancy use of wall paper, one would think that it was a fresco but Miss Lucy Downing assured [assured] me that it was the work of a paper hanger. The large chair on the left of the picture, is the leather-upholstered, carved arm chair given to Lewis Downing by his workmen of the company on his return from his first trip to California to sell coaches in the late 1830's. This chair was given to the New Hampshire Historical society by his niece Miss Lucy Downing."
