- This collection consists of the papers of Rufus Dow of South Hampton, NH, who served as sheriff of Rockingham County. Dating from 1846 to 1892, the papers include accounts, promissory notes, correspondence, deeds, mortgage deeds, and documents related to his time as sheriff, such as attachments of property. Also included is an 1861-1862 list of volunteers who enlisted from South Hampton in the Civil War. The bulk of the papers date from 1846 to 1866.
