- Scope and Content:
- Letter from Marilla M. Ricker, attorney and counsellor at law in Dover, NH, to Justin H. Shaw in Kittery, ME, dated June 18, 1918. In the letter, Ricker writes about her thoughts on religion, noting it is "astonishing" how sensible people "can be so idiotic on the Christian religion." She talks about the article written by Walter George Smith, who she believes to be a hypocrite, and how she doesn't believe religion will last much longer. Attached is an article titled, "Department of Economics. Denying a hearing to the Other Side." This article reprints Mr. Smith's address and notes Ricker's reply was declined printing in "Case and Comment" and rather printed in "The Truth Seeker."
