Letter on "The Millard" letterhead from Frank J. Pillsbury in Omaha, NE, to the folks at home, dated June 1, 1889. In the letter, Pillsbury discusses his time in Omaha, noting they held a few sessions before visiting the smelting works, where they saw bricks of gold of $4,000, $5,000, and $7,000 each. He notes they participated in the Memorial Day exercises, visited the packing houses where they can kill 1000 cattle a day and 50 hogs a minute, and visited a basket factory. Pillsbury states he was elected to two committees - one to examine the books and accounts and one to create an index of the laws and rules in order for them to be printed. He ends the letter by saying Somerby has a good position for him, which will help them pay their bills even if he must travel.
