Scope and Content:

A pre-printed diary for 1857 used by John A. Jones of Manchester, NH, and titled "Pocket diary, or Daily Remembrancer for 1857." The diary was published by J. Marsh and Co. of Boston, MA. The majority of entries are in pencil with a few written in ink. The dates of the entries bear no relationship to the pre-printed dates in the diary, as most of the pre-printed dates have been crossed out. The entries include brief accounts of the writer's service in the 15th New Hampshire Volunteer Regiment from 1862-1863, as well as accounts of payments made and daily activities through 1865.
